Why is the Umma important to Islam?

  1. The Umma is important to Islam because it sets up the basic laws to follow, shows the unity of Muslims, and without it islam would cease to be a religion

  2. Both are very true. But things you also should remember
-The umma started just with Muhammad's wife Khadija. Now look where it has come from. One person to one of the worlds most followed religions. The Umma is so important because it because it would cease to be a religion but maybe a bit more insight. However it is a true and great point :-)

  3. yes that is a good point. Too expand on the unity of all muslims part- Islam's whole point is too believe in one thing and be united as one whole. The Umma follows this belief exactly by keeping all the muslims together. That is why the split of it to Sunni's and Shiites was such a big deal...it completely contradicts the religion.

Thanks for making me think ;-)

  6. Its true but don't use words like place. Be specific. Like instead of place use mecca for example. Also mention how the umma makes islam. Without the umma which IS the group of followers of islam, the religion would not be as popular as it is.
